The Moore Haven Lady Terriers celebrated their Senior Night on January 26, 2024, recognizing the contributions of their senior players as they prepare for the upcoming district playoffs. The team has achieved an impressive record of 21-0 this season, showcasing their talent and determination on the court.
Senior Contributions Highlighted
During the event, the seniors were honored for their hard work and commitment. The team’s standout player, Sa’Nyree Myers, has made a significant impact this season, averaging 29.5 points per game. This scoring average places her as the leading scorer in Moore Haven’s division and ranks her third across the entire state of Florida.
Myers not only excels in scoring but also dominates in other aspects of the game, leading her division in three-point shots and field goals made, while averaging 4.6 steals per game. Fellow seniors, Zaylie Green, Riana Kelly, Truly Osceola, and Zakiya Redd have also played crucial roles, with Green ranking third in rebounds and tying with Myers for the most blocks on the team.
Successful Season Prepares Team for Playoffs
The Lady Terriers kicked off their season with a commanding 55-7 victory over Frostproof on November 18. They followed this performance with a 52-37 win against Fort Meade on November 20. This month, they continued their winning streak with a 55-11 victory over Pahokee on December 11 and a decisive 64-4 triumph against Glades Day on December 15.
In the matchup against Pahokee, Myers led the charge with 33 points, supported by junior Chanel Hunter, who contributed 11 points and led the team with 12 rebounds. The Lady Terriers faced Pahokee again on January 23, securing a 62-26 win, with Myers scoring 24 points and Osceola adding 10 points. Green again demonstrated her prowess by leading the team with 12 rebounds.
Last season, the Lady Terriers achieved their best record since 2018, finishing as district runners-up with a 15-4 record. As they head into the district playoffs, the team is fueled by the hope of securing a district championship, building on their success and the strong foundation laid by this year’s senior class.
