Students at McAdoo-Kelayres Elementary Donate Supplies to Hospital

Students at McAdoo-Kelayres Elementary School in Pennsylvania have come together this holiday season to donate a generous collection of school supplies to the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. The initiative, known as Supplies for Santa, was spearheaded by students Landon Makowiec, Carmen Dous, and Hadassah Ramirez, who collected a significant number of items to support children in need.

Community Spirit Shines Bright

As part of the Supplies for Santa campaign, the students managed to gather an entire box filled with essential school supplies, including notebooks, pens, and art materials. The effort highlights the strong sense of community and generosity that characterizes McAdoo-Kelayres Elementary School. Teachers and parents supported the students by encouraging participation and spreading the word about the initiative.

“It was wonderful to see our students so enthusiastic about helping others,” said the school principal, who praised the students for their commitment to making a positive impact during the holiday season. “Their efforts demonstrate the spirit of giving that we strive to cultivate at our school.”

Impact on Young Patients

The Supplies for Santa initiative not only benefits the children at Janet Weis Children’s Hospital but also teaches valuable lessons in compassion and community service. By donating these supplies, the students are providing young patients with tools that can aid in their education and recovery.

“Every donation makes a difference,” said a representative from Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. “These school supplies will help brighten the days of our young patients, allowing them to engage in educational activities while they are here.”

The donation event took place in early December 2023, perfectly timed to coincide with the holiday spirit. The students’ actions reflect a broader trend of community service in schools across the country, emphasizing the importance of social responsibility among young people.

As the holiday season continues, the impact of such initiatives resonates beyond the immediate community. By fostering a culture of giving, McAdoo-Kelayres Elementary School is setting a powerful example for other institutions to follow.
