David Anthony Gilles, Dedicated Family Man and Leader, Dies at 66

David Anthony Gilles, a dedicated family man and seasoned professional, passed away at the age of 66, surrounded by his wife, Nancy Erd, and their children. His death marks the end of a life characterized by unwavering commitment to family and career.

Born on April 27, 1959, in Glendale, California, David was the son of William and Carol Gilles. He graduated from Bishop Montgomery High School and pursued further education at community colleges in Torrance, California, and Pasco, Washington. In 1980, he married Nancy, and together they relocated to Richland, Washington, where they raised four children.

David began his professional journey at the Hanford Nuclear Site, initially working as a bus driver. His dedication and work ethic propelled him through the ranks, ultimately leading to his role as Manager of Retrieval Operations at the Tank Farms. After a long and fulfilling career, he retired and, in 2023, he and Nancy moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, to enjoy the home they built together.

Throughout his life, David was known as a tireless provider and caregiver. He was a patient teacher to his children and grandchildren, demonstrating a commitment to their growth and well-being. His reserved demeanor often masked a sharp wit and a clever sense of humor. Friends and family knew that if David was teasing you, it was a sign of affection.

David’s family includes his wife, Nancy, their four children: Darlene (Jose) Bejar, Wendy, David (Juliana), and Heather. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his brother, William (Roni).
