Deuce Alailefaleula, a defensive line commit for Boise State University, has been honored as the Alaska Player of the Year by MaxPreps. This recognition follows an impressive senior season at Bartlett High School in Anchorage, Alaska, where Alailefaleula excelled on the field, recording 117 total tackles, including 25 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.
His contributions were pivotal in leading Bartlett to its first appearance in the state championship game since 2017. In a standout performance during the Division 1 state semifinals, Alailefaleula amassed 23 total tackles (five for loss) and one sack, helping secure a 9-2 victory over Service High School.
Ranked as the top prospect in Alaska for the class of 2026 by 247Sports, Alailefaleula committed to the Broncos in June after considering offers from several prominent programs, including Arizona, California, and Boston College. He is currently rated the No. 143 defensive line prospect nationally by the same organization.
Alailefaleula’s junior season also showcased his talent, with 78 total tackles (10 for loss), seven sacks, and 18 quarterback hurries. Additionally, he demonstrated versatility by playing as a fullback, contributing to Bartlett’s overall record of 6-4 and their advancement to the Division 1 state semifinals.
The recent developments in Boise State’s recruiting class have been mixed. The Broncos faced a setback when four-star quarterback Tradon Bessinger from Utah’s Davis High School decommitted from the program. Following this decision, Bessinger’s profile received a boost, elevating him to the No. 205 overall player nationally and the No. 14 quarterback prospect, according to 247Sports.
