Tuesday’s high school sports events showcased impressive performances in basketball and flag football across several schools. Notable among them were outstanding individual efforts that contributed to decisive victories.
Outstanding Basketball Performances
In boys basketball, Nas Greene of Spring Valley delivered a stellar performance, scoring 21 points as the Grizzlies defeated Bonanza with a commanding score of 63-22. Amari Hinds from Las Vegas also shone, netting 16 points to help the Wildcats secure a thrilling overtime victory against Losee, finishing at 63-59.
Another highlight came from Elijah Outlaw-McDaniel of Durango, who contributed 23 points in a 65-52 win over Sierra Vista. Meanwhile, Ethan Inocencio from Palo Verde scored 21 points as the Panthers triumphed over Canyon Springs with a final score of 65-34.
In a closely contested match, Kenny Williams of Basic scored 27 points to lead the Wolves past Boulder City, finishing 68-51. Despite a valiant effort, Dash Wiley of Faith Lutheran scored 29 points but could not prevent a 77-60 loss to Liberty.
On the girls’ side, Liyah Elfberg of Tech recorded 14 points, six steals, and three rebounds, helping her team to a comfortable 62-26 victory over Cheyenne. Jordan Sequeira, a sophomore at Las Vegas, made significant contributions with 20 points, six steals, and four assists, leading the Wildcats to a comeback win against Legacy, finishing 51-47.
In a standout performance, Jayden Simon of Legacy scored 28 points in the same match but ultimately fell short against Las Vegas. Additionally, Sabrina Stewart of Del Sol added 19 points in the Dragons’ victory over Clark, with a decisive score of 62-23.
Flag Football Highlights
Flag football also delivered exciting action on Tuesday. Sariah Blue from Spring Valley made a significant impact, returning an interception for a touchdown and adding six tackles as the Grizzlies overwhelmed Sky Pointe with a score of 34-0.
In a dominant display, Danielle Morales of Arbor View scored an impressive six touchdowns—three rushing, one receiving, one on a punt return, and one on an interception return—leading the Aggies to a resounding 54-0 victory over Del Sol.
Finally, Allison Reed of Clark had a solid performance, carrying the ball eight times for 46 yards and a touchdown, contributing to her team’s 24-6 win against Legacy.
These performances not only highlight the skill and determination of young athletes but also set the stage for an exciting remainder of the season as teams compete for supremacy in their respective leagues.
