The Victoria East Lady Titans soccer team kicked off their participation in the Gulf Coast Classic Tournament in Corpus Christi on March 14, 2024, securing one win and one tie during their first day of competition. This three-day non-district tournament showcased the team’s resilience and skill against competitive opponents.
In their opening match, the Lady Titans faced the Bay City Ladycats. The game concluded in a 0-0 tie, with goalkeeper Lydia Traxler making an impressive seven saves to keep the match scoreless. Despite the lack of goals, junior Carlee Kerley managed to record the only shot on goal for the Lady Titans, demonstrating the team’s defensive strength and determination.
The second match of the day saw the Lady Titans achieve a 1-0 victory over Cypress Park. The decisive moment came when McKenna Chaput scored a header off a corner kick delivered by Bay Hysquierdo. This goal marked Chaput’s significant contribution to the game, as she accounted for both of East’s shots on goal. Traxler once again proved her value, collecting another seven saves to secure the win.
