Mia Catarazulo Leads Milton with Hat Trick in 4-1 Victory

Milton High School’s girls hockey team continued its impressive start to the 2025-26 season with a decisive 4-1 victory over Martha’s Vineyard at Ulin Rink. Freshman Mia Catarazulo made headlines by scoring a hat trick, propelling the Wildcats to their third consecutive win, leaving them undefeated early in the season.

Strong Start for the Wildcats

Having recently reached the Division 2 final, where they fell short against Medfield, Milton has infused its lineup with nine new first-year players. This addition is already proving beneficial, as the team aims to secure its first championship in program history. Head coach Matt Lodi credited the local youth hockey program for fostering a competitive environment that supports the transition of young talent to high school hockey.

“It’s great to see families choose for their kids to stay local and play for the high school rather than leaving for the prep route,” Lodi remarked, reflecting on the positive community impact on the team.

The matchup against Martha’s Vineyard began with a balanced exchange of possessions. However, the momentum shifted when Catarazulo found the upper right corner of the net, scoring her first goal at the 12-minute mark in the first period, giving Milton an early lead.

Dominant Performance

Martha’s Vineyard responded with increased aggression, leading to a game-tying goal from Hannah Wansiewicz at 14:23 into the first period. This equalizer momentarily shifted the energy, but Milton quickly regained control. A solid performance from goalie Caera Hart ensured that the Vineyarders could not capitalize on their momentum, effectively shutting down any potential comebacks.

Milton regained the lead with a goal from freshman Maeve Lovett, followed by two more from Catarazulo, marking her first career hat trick. With this performance, she now has a total of five goals this season, showcasing her potential as a key player for the Wildcats.

The victory positions Milton favorably as they prepare for their next challenge. Martha’s Vineyard will aim to bounce back against Scituate at home on December 31, 2025, while Milton will face Bishop Feehan in the Tenney Cup on December 27, 2025, with hopes of continuing their undefeated streak.

This match not only highlights the talent emerging from the Milton hockey program but also sets the stage for an exciting season ahead as they pursue championship aspirations.
