Raiders Contribute $250K to Restore Bay Area High School Football Field

The Las Vegas Raiders have made a significant contribution of $250,000 to assist in repairing the football field at Mount Diablo High School in Concord, California. The donation comes after the field suffered damage from a fire during the summer months. The funds will be used to cover the insurance deductible, alleviating the financial burden on the Mount Diablo Unified School District.

Officials from the school district confirmed that the total cost of repairing the turf field is approximately $350,000. In a statement, Adam Clark, the district superintendent, expressed gratitude for the Raiders’ support, saying, “As a lifelong Raiders fan and past season ticket holder, I couldn’t be more pleased with their generous contribution.” He also acknowledged the role of Mark Davis, owner of the Raiders, in facilitating the donation, stating, “With the help of Mark Davis, we have restored the field to its original state.”

On August 24, 2023, school officials discovered that the field had been damaged the previous night. Surveillance footage revealed that a group had set off fireworks on the field on August 23, which authorities suspect may have sparked the fire. An investigation into the fire’s cause is currently underway. The damage affected approximately one-third of the field, including the school’s logo located at the 50-yard line.

The turf field, which was installed earlier this year at a cost estimated between $1 million and $3 million, was critical to the school’s football program. Due to the damage, Mount Diablo High School played its first three games of the season away from home while crews worked on repairs. The school’s logo, which required special ordering, was successfully installed earlier this month.

Looking ahead, district officials have announced that the school is set to host its homecoming game against crosstown rival Ygnacio Valley High School at 7 p.m. on Friday, marking an important return to their home field. The community is eager to witness the revival of the football program as the field is restored to its full functionality thanks to the Raiders’ generous donation.
