$1.8B Powerball Jackpot Won; Two New Yorkers Claim $1M Each

BREAKING: Two New York lottery players are now instant millionaires after the historic Powerball drawing on December 24, 2023. While the staggering $1.817 billion jackpot went to a single ticket sold in Arkansas, the New Yorkers each won $1 million by matching all five white balls.

The winning tickets were purchased at Smiley’s Stop N Shop in Sidney, Delaware County, and at Ultra Fuel in Lindenhurst, Suffolk County. The winning numbers from last night’s drawing were white balls 4, 25, 31, 52, 59 and the red Powerball 19. Additionally, the Power Play multiplier was 2.

This jackpot marks a significant milestone, as the Arkansas winner becomes the second-largest lottery winner in U.S. history. The prize includes a cash option of $834.9 million before taxes, or an annuitized prize of $1.817 billion that includes one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5 percent each year.

In total, New York had eight tickets that won $50,000, alongside 252 tickets winning $100, and thousands of smaller prizes. Nationwide, eight tickets matched all five white balls, winning at least $1 million each, with winners in California, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

This drawing was notable as it was the 47th in the current jackpot run, a record for the most drawings in a single cycle. The previous jackpot was won on September 6 by two tickets in Missouri and Texas, which split a $1.787 billion prize.

For the upcoming drawing on Saturday night, the Powerball jackpot resets to $20 million. Powerball tickets are priced at $2 per play and are available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.9, while the odds of hitting the jackpot stand at a staggering 1 in 292.2 million.

As the excitement builds, players are encouraged to join in for the next drawing—who knows, the next big winner could be you!
