2025 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Cut Nov. 6 in NY

UPDATE: The iconic 2025 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be cut down on November 6 in East Greenbush, New York. This stunning 75-foot-tall Norway Spruce, donated by the local Russ family, has been a cherished part of their family celebrations for over 60 years.

The majestic tree, measuring 45 feet in diameter, will embark on a 140-mile journey to Rockefeller Center, where it will be erected on November 8. A family-friendly event, “Meet The Tree,” will welcome visitors to celebrate its arrival at the plaza.

The highly anticipated official tree lighting ceremony will take place on Wednesday, December 3, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., broadcast live on NBC. This year’s tree will shine with 50,000 LED bulbs and a stunning nine-foot-diameter Swarovski star weighing 900 pounds.

Erik Pauze, the head gardener for Rockefeller Center, has been selecting these iconic trees for over 30 years. He stated that as soon as he saw a photo of the Russ family tree, he knew it was “perfect.”

The Christmas Tree tradition spans an impressive 92 years and includes a unique charitable twist. After the holiday season, the tree will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, where it will be milled into beams to help build homes across the country, often in its home state of New York.

Judy Russ expressed her excitement about the tree’s legacy, emphasizing, “For the Russ family, for Erik Pauze, and for millions who gather at Rockefeller Center, this year’s tree is a reminder that love, light, and community can grow from the roots of family and history.”

As the countdown to the lighting ceremony begins, this year’s tree signifies not just the start of the holiday season, but the enduring spirit of New York City and the people who keep its traditions alive, year after year.
