Akron Fire Department Responds to Three Fires, One Firefighter Injured

UPDATE: The City of Akron Fire Department faced a demanding Sunday, October 29, 2023, battling three separate fires, which resulted in one firefighter suffering a minor injury.

Firefighters were first dispatched to a residential blaze at 2460 25th St. SW, where flames were visible from the porch and garage. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed that all residents had evacuated safely. However, they discovered live wires on the ground, prompting an urgent notification to Ohio Edison. The fire was quickly extinguished, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In a second incident, the fire department responded to a high-rise fire at 1791 Vernon Odom Blvd. Firefighters found flames inside apartment 108, displacing one resident. The quick action of the crew helped contain the situation, preventing further damage and ensuring the safety of nearby tenants.

The third fire occurred at 2736 Priscilla Ave, where heavy smoke and flames were reported emanating from a detached garage. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire; however, one firefighter incurred a minor injury during the operation. Thankfully, the injured firefighter was treated and released shortly thereafter.
