BREAKING: Alan Paul Miller, a respected lawyer and passionate sports fan, has passed away at his home in Evanston, IL, on November 28, 2025, at the age of 87. His death marks the end of a remarkable life dedicated to family, law, and athletics.
Miller, born on January 17, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, grew up in LaGrange, IL, where he fostered a lifelong love for sports. A graduate of Brown University and the University of Michigan Law School, he practiced law for over 60 years, primarily with the firm Kiesler & Berman in Chicago.
He leaves behind a legacy as a devoted husband to his wife of 46 years, Barbara Moskow Chipman, and a loving father to his six children: Kristen, Gigi, Melissa, Eric, Karyn, and Kyra. Miller is also survived by his grandchildren: Colin, Neil, Kevin, Sean, David, Jaden, and Lauren, and his sister, Peggy Herrmann.
Miller’s family history took a heartwarming turn in 2019 when he reunited with his birth family, the Walters, discovering three living siblings along with multiple nieces and nephews. This reunion brought him immense joy and was a significant chapter in his life.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for the spring of 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a charity of choice. Fans are also invited to honor Miller’s memory by supporting his favorite sports teams, including the Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Lions, and Northwestern Wildcats.
