AT&T Workers in Evansville Picket for Better Pay and Health Care

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – AT&T workers in Evansville have launched a critical informational picket this afternoon, demanding improved health insurance and wages. The workers, represented by the Communication Workers of America (CWA), are taking a stand after their contract expired on February 13, 2026.

Workers are increasingly frustrated as negotiations have stalled, with AT&T allegedly looking to shift all healthcare costs onto employees without offering raises that keep pace with inflation. “We bring in a majority of their sales and other service, us and the call centers and the retail stores. Why they don’t want to come to the table and bargain I’m not sure,” said Lindsey Wilkerson, division 1 representative. “We deserve fair pay, livable wages, not living paycheck to paycheck, and that’s where we’re at right now.”

The ongoing informational pickets have been taking place since January, when negotiations initially began. Workers stress the urgency of their situation, as they face economic pressure and are advocating for their rights. While a strike has not yet been initiated, the CWA warns that it may become a necessary option if negotiations fail to yield results.

AT&T responded to the situation, stating: “We value our union-represented employees and are committed to reaching a fair agreement with the CWA that recognizes our employees’ role in delivering outstanding customer service and supporting the AT&T Guarantee, while staying competitive in the markets we serve.” The company emphasized its dedication to its more than 55,000 union-represented employees, claiming to offer competitive pay and benefits.

As the situation develops, the stakes are high for both the workers and AT&T. The outcome of these negotiations may significantly impact the livelihoods of the employees and the services delivered to customers. This picket reflects a growing tension within the telecommunications industry and raises questions about corporate responsibility and employee treatment.
