BREAKING: Lorraine F. Lease, a cherished educator and community volunteer, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice in Bethlehem on January 9, 2026, at the age of 94. Her contributions to education and her local community will be remembered by many.
Lease was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years, spending two decades in the Bethlehem Area School District. Her passion for education began after she graduated from Kutztown University and later earned her Master’s degree from Lehigh University.
Born on December 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, PA, Lorraine was the widow of George M. Lease, who passed away on February 22, 2003. Throughout her life, she engaged in numerous activities, including traveling, tennis, and volunteering for organizations like Meals on Wheels and the Allentown Art Museum.
Her vibrant spirit shone through her love of reading, crossword puzzles, and singing with the Moravian Village chorus. Lease was also an active member of the Central Moravian Church in Bethlehem, where she found a strong sense of community.
She leaves behind her sisters, Althea Lazun of Bethlehem and Joyce Hess of North Carolina, as well as stepdaughters Joan Johnson and Susan Baier, along with six step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Central Moravian Chapel. A private inurnment for family will follow at a later date in Bethlehem Memorial Park.
