BREAKING: Castaic’s head coach, William Jones, has just been named the 2025 LA Rams Coach of the Year during an electrifying ceremony at the LA Rams game on Sunday. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding coaches in Southern California’s CIF sections and includes a significant $4,000 donation to finalists.
Jones led the Castaic Coyotes to an unprecedented season, achieving their first-ever playoff appearance and finishing as the CIF Division 5 finalist. The Coyotes ended the season with a commendable 15-11 overall record and an 8-6 mark in Foothill League play. This achievement positions them fourth in the league standings, marking a historic milestone for the program.
“Winning this award is super exciting and signifies recognition from the Los Angeles Rams and the NFL, who are pivotal in supporting the growth of girls’ flag football. This is truly a team award,” said Jones, reflecting the collective effort behind the success.
Throughout the season, the Coyotes showcased remarkable talent, with five players earning all-league honors. Notably, Pyper Ormes, Charlotte Wheeler, and Larkin “Lu Lu” Smith received all-CIF selections, further highlighting the team’s exceptional performance.
Jones expressed gratitude for his team, stating, “I couldn’t have done this without the 22 amazing young ladies I had the privilege to coach, my outstanding assistant coaches, and the support from the school and the Castaic community. This recognition is huge as we build momentum into the offseason and look forward to the 2026 season.”
This award not only elevates Jones’s coaching career but also underscores the growing support for girls’ sports, particularly flag football. The impact of this recognition extends beyond accolades, inspiring young athletes and fostering community pride.
As Jones and the Coyotes prepare for the upcoming season, all eyes will be on Castaic as they aim to build on their momentum and continue making history.
