Central UMC Hosts Second Annual Night to Shine on Feb. 13

UPDATE: Central United Methodist Church in Meridian is set to host its second annual Night to Shine on February 13, 2026, in partnership with the Tim Tebow Foundation. This extraordinary event celebrates individuals with special needs, inviting them to experience a night filled with joy and love.

This year’s Night to Shine promises to be a spectacular occasion for adults aged 14 and older living with disabilities from East Mississippi and West Alabama. Drawing participants from across the region, the event aligns with a global initiative designed to honor and uplift people with special needs.

Guests will be treated to a range of activities, including hair and makeup stations, shoeshines, and the opportunity to receive beautiful corsages and boutonnieres. The highlight of the evening will be a grand Red Carpet Entrance, where guests will be greeted by cheering crowds and flashing cameras.

After the entrance, attendees can enjoy karaoke, gifts, a catered dinner, and even a sensory room for those needing a quieter space. As the night unfolds, guests will dance to their favorite tunes, culminating in a crowning ceremony where every participant will be honored as a king or queen—just as they are seen by God every day.

Event Coordinator Sabrina Williams shared the heartfelt success of the inaugural 2025 event, stating, “The enthusiasm of our guests was overwhelming! The smiles on their faces gave every parent and caregiver, every volunteer, a sense of joy and gratitude for this special night.”

One guest remarked, “This was the best night of my life!” underscoring the powerful impact this event has on the community.

More than 100 volunteers from various churches and organizations are expected to assist in making this event a success. Those interested in volunteering, sponsoring, or donating to the cause can contact the church at 601-693-1521 or visit the Night to Shine-Meridian Facebook page for more information.

As a former volunteer emphasized, “If you think you are blessing our guests by volunteering, guess what? You are the one who will be blessed! Come join the fun! There is a spot just for you!”

Donations can be made through the Community Foundation of East Mississippi—Night to Shine, ensuring that this magical evening continues to spread joy and love in the community.
