Cold Front to Clear Haze in San Antonio by Friday

URGENT UPDATE: A significant cold front is set to sweep through San Antonio on Friday, promising to clear the air and improve air quality for residents who have been experiencing dense fog and haze this week.

Residents woke up to thick fog on Wednesday, with conditions expected to persist into Thursday. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) revealed that residual emissions from fire activity, along with aerosols from urban and industrial sources, have affected air quality across the region, stretching from the Gulf Coast of Mexico to deep South Texas.

Despite the haze, officials report that the air quality in the Alamo City remains in the lower end of the “moderate” range, meaning that most residents will not be adversely affected at this time. However, the impending cold front is anticipated to stir up the stagnant air, leading to a significant improvement in air quality, shifting it into the “good range.”

The incoming front will also bring a notable temperature drop of around 20 degrees. After enjoying highs around 80 degrees earlier this week, San Antonians can expect temperatures to settle in the lower 60s on Saturday and Sunday.

Officials urge residents to remain cautious as they navigate the foggy conditions over the next 24 hours, but relief is on the way with the cold front’s arrival.
