Community Mourns Loss of Christine Fitzpatrick, Former Mayor

BREAKING: The community of Ballston Spa is mourning the passing of Christine M. Fitzpatrick, a beloved former mayor and extraordinary community advocate, who died on November 24, 2025. She was 75 years old and is remembered for her unwavering commitment to public service and her transformative impact on the village.

Christine Fitzpatrick, known for her leadership and dedication, was the first female mayor of Ballston Spa. During her tenure, she successfully managed the village’s finances, turning a staggering $300,000 deficit into a remarkable $4.8 million fund balance. Her collaborations with local leaders led to significant improvements in essential services and community engagement.

Born on April 21, 1950, in Manhattan, New York, Christine was raised in Queens alongside her five siblings. A proud alumna of Saint Helena High School and a graduate of St. John’s University, she dedicated her life to education and public service, holding positions in various organizations, including the Department of Health, Education and Welfare and as executive director of the New York State Adult Day Health Care Council.

Christine’s legacy extends beyond her professional achievements. She was a warm-hearted individual who cherished her community, advocating for accessibility and citizen involvement throughout her life. Her commitment to Ballston Spa was evident in her role as a village trustee and her visionary leadership as mayor.

In addition to her public service, Christine was passionate about the arts, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Her adventurous spirit was matched by her incredible memory for details, making her a beloved figure in her community.

Christine is survived by her loving siblings, nieces, nephews, and her cherished partner, Richard Dautner. Her family invites those who knew her to celebrate her life and share their memories.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., located at 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 167 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa.
