Denver’s Christkindl Market Celebrates 25 Years at New Tivoli Location

URGENT UPDATE: Denver’s iconic Christkindl Market has officially kicked off its 25th anniversary celebration at the new Tivoli Quad on the Auraria campus, promising a larger space for its over 40 vendors and an influx of festive crowds. This highly anticipated relocation comes as the market seeks to accommodate the growing number of visitors, with expectations soaring beyond 350,000 attendees this year.

Vendors are already buzzing with excitement. “Everybody’s always hungry for a pretzel,” exclaimed Leon Speth, a long-time vendor known for his delicious offerings. Fellow vendor Josh Bryant highlighted the festive spirit, stating, “We do Schmalzkuchen, which is a German donut—an essential Christmas treat in Germany.”

This year’s market isn’t just about traditional German fare. Blair Hamill is showcasing unique posters of beloved locations, tapping into the nostalgia of holiday memories. “I’m selling posters of various places that evoke emotional memories for those who see the art,” Hamill shared.

The move from Civic Center Park to Tivoli Quad has been a positive change, according to Samantha Seems, executive director of the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado chapter. “Vendors are loving it. People are really excited to be in this new space and have more room to spread out,” she noted.

The market, which runs through December 23, is a melting pot of cultures, attracting visitors from around the globe. “You meet people from around the world, including many European visitors,” Speth added, emphasizing the event’s international appeal.

Vendors are also feeling a deep sense of community, with many forming lasting friendships over the years. “We’re like a family around here. A lot of the vendors I’ve known for over 10 years,” Bryant said, highlighting the strong bonds formed through shared experiences.

As the festive season approaches, the Christkindl Market offers not only a shopping destination but also a chance to soak in the holiday spirit. “I’ve been doing this for eight years now, and we keep growing. People love it as a festival,” Hamill stated, capturing the joyous atmosphere that defines this beloved event.

With the market now in full swing, those in Denver are encouraged to experience the magic of the Christkindl Market at its new location. Don’t miss the chance to indulge in delicious foods, unique crafts, and holiday cheer that brings the community together.
