Edgewater’s Ben Jones Earns Army All-American Bowl Invite

BREAKING: Edgewater offensive lineman Ben Jones, formerly known as Ben Bankowitz, has been selected for the prestigious Army All-American Bowl on December 21, 2023, in Frisco, Texas. This recognition marks a significant milestone for the young athlete, who has dedicated four years to his role on the offensive line.
Jones, ranked No. 43 in the Sentinel’s 2026 Central Florida Super60, expressed his gratitude: “It feels really good… I try to not think about it too much, just give the glory to God, but it does feel really good.” This honor comes at a crucial time as Jones and the Edgewater Eagles remain undefeated at 9-0 this season.
Edgewater is currently the champion of Class 7A, District 5 and is gearing up for a rivalry match against Boone on October 30. Jones has been a key player, starting every game since his freshman year and contributing significantly to the team’s success. “We’re not close to done. In our minds, we still got six more games,” he stated, emphasizing the team’s dedication.
Throughout his high school career, Jones has honed his technical skills, stating, “Technique is one of the most pivotal components of being an offensive lineman.” His commitment to excellence has positioned him as one of Florida’s top offensive linemen. His agility and awareness on the field have been pivotal in his growth, with coaches crediting his progress to past mentors.
Jones is committed to Appalachian State, having made his decision on June 17. He praised the program’s culture and coaching staff, highlighting the influence of offensive line coach Allen Mogridge. “They are building something special up there,” Jones said, reinforcing his commitment and enthusiasm for the future.
His senior season has been under the guidance of first-year head coach Patrick Browning, whom Jones describes as a “football guru.” The bond among teammates has been instrumental in maintaining team unity, especially following the departure of former coach Cameron Duke.
As the Eagles prepare for their next game, Jones’s recognition as an Army All-American stands as a testament to his hard work and dedication, making him a player to watch in the upcoming Bowl game. This honor not only highlights his individual talent but also brings attention to the strength of Edgewater’s football program.
Stay tuned for updates as Jones and the Eagles continue their pursuit of excellence on the field. Share this remarkable achievement with fellow sports fans and show your support for Ben Jones as he prepares for this prestigious event!
