BREAKING: The Fairview Knights delivered an emphatic statement, routing the Rocky Mountain Lobos 63-21 at Recht Field in Boulder on October 31, 2025. This decisive victory not only capped off their regular season but also solidified their position as a formidable contender as they head into the playoffs.
The Knights, ranked seventh in Class 5A, came into this game with a mission after falling short in last year’s semifinals. Junior quarterback Ki Ellison is determined not to let history repeat itself. “We’re just as good as last year,” he said. “We’ve got a ton of weapons all over the ball that are hungry. We’re ready to make a statement.”
It didn’t take long for Fairview to assert dominance. Senior wide receiver Sabi Ruttgers electrified the crowd by scoring a touchdown just 13 seconds into the game, sprinting approximately 70 yards for the opening score. Ruttgers ended the night with an extraordinary four touchdowns, showcasing his talent and determination.
Ellison, along with senior standout Toray Davis, also shined, contributing to the Knights’ overwhelming performance. They combined for a series of explosive plays that left the Lobos scrambling. By the end of the first half, the Knights had effectively sealed the game, putting the Lobos in a nightmarish situation.
In what was described as a “horror movie” for Rocky Mountain, Fairview’s relentless offense left no room for error. The Knights displayed a level of teamwork and energy that was palpable, as they executed their plays flawlessly. “It was just energy at practice every day, extra work,” Ellison explained. “We feel like we’re overlooked this year, so we’re ready to make a statement.”
As they prepare for the upcoming playoffs, the Knights own a 9-1 record, with their only loss coming against No. 4 Arvada West in a nail-biting 34-33 defeat. However, since that early-season setback, Fairview has dominated every opponent, showcasing their depth and resilience.
Head coach Tom McCartney praised his team’s determination and adaptability, acknowledging the challenges of having a smaller roster. “We’re just trying to stay as healthy as we can and play our best,” he stated. McCartney emphasized the importance of players stepping up, particularly in the absence of last year’s star, Jordan Rechel.
As the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) prepares to announce the playoff brackets on Sunday, the Knights are eager to see where they will land. Their eyes are set on a deep playoff run, fueled by the pain of last year’s semifinals exit.
With their lights shining brightly, Fairview is ready to make a mark in the postseason. Fans and supporters are buzzing about the Knights’ potential, making this a thrilling time for Fairview football. Expect to see more from this powerhouse team as they chase their state championship dreams.
