The Tampa Police Department has confirmed that the driver, 22-year-old Silas Sampson, is facing multiple felony charges, including four counts of vehicular homicide.
Around 12:40 a.m., police air units observed two vehicles racing westbound on Hillsborough Avenue toward Interstate 275. After one vehicle broke off, the other accelerated south on I-275. Following an unsuccessful traffic stop by the Florida Highway Patrol, officers attempted a PIT maneuver but were unable to halt the speeding car.
In a shocking turn of events, the vehicle sped into Ybor City, crashing near a popular bar, Bradley’s, and barreling through a crowd of patrons. Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth succumbed to injuries at the hospital. As of 5:30 a.m., one additional victim remains in critical condition, with eight others hospitalized in stable condition.
