Free Indoor Playground for Preschoolers Opens in Kingston Dec. 2

UPDATE: The much-anticipated free indoor playground program for preschoolers is set to launch at the Andy Murphy Neighborhood Center in Kingston, N.Y., on December 2, 2025. The program opens its doors to the public from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday, providing a warm and safe space for little ones to play during the colder months.

This initiative, organized by the Parks and Recreation Department, caters specifically to toddlers and pre-kindergarten children. Parents and guardians are required to stay with their children at all times, ensuring a secure environment for everyone involved. “This popular program serves as an alternative option for little ones to stay warm while they play and socialize during the colder months,” stated Lynsey Timbrouck, the city’s Parks and Recreation director.

No registration is necessary for this free drop-in program, making it accessible to all families in the community. However, parents should be aware that the program will be canceled if the Kingston City School District announces a two-hour delay or closure due to inclement weather.

The program will take a holiday break from December 26, 2025, through January 6, 2026, before returning weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays until March 27, 2026. This is a crucial opportunity for families to engage in local community activities, fostering social connections among children and parents alike.

Mark your calendars for this exciting reopening—your little ones will not want to miss out on the fun, and parents will appreciate the chance to keep them active and entertained during the winter months. Stay tuned for more updates as the program kicks off next week!
