Gerald R. Cote, Former GE VP, Passes Away at 85 in Niskayuna

URGENT UPDATE: Gerald R. Cote, a distinguished former Vice President of the General Electric Company, has passed away at the age of 85. Cote died on November 12, 2023, in Niskayuna, NY, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and passion for sports.

Born on July 21, 1940, in Derry, NH, Cote excelled in both academics and athletics. He graduated from Pinkerton High School and later earned a degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Following his graduation, Cote embarked on a remarkable career at GE, where he undertook various roles across the country, ultimately rising to Vice President. His career spanned over 30 years, with notable assignments in Louisville, KY, and Schenectady, NY.

Cote married his beloved wife, Sally, in July 1963, and they shared a life filled with joy and companionship until her passing. An avid sports enthusiast, Cote played multiple sports in high school and continued his passion for football in college. He cherished the moments spent coaching and watching his late son Brian play little league and high school baseball. Later in life, Cote developed a love for golf, competing and enjoying rounds with friends and family.

As a devoted fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, Cote closely followed every game, sharing his enthusiasm with those around him. He is survived by his sons Andrew and Christopher, along with two great-grandchildren, Sunday and Archer, who brought him immense joy.
