URGENT UPDATE: A significant Veterans Day ceremony is scheduled for this Tuesday, November 11, 2023, at the Weld County Veterans Memorial in Greeley, Colorado. The event will commence at 11 a.m., honoring the courageous service of veterans.
Master Gunnery Sergeant Brian Ivers, a veteran of five combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, will deliver a keynote speech, emphasizing the sacrifices made by military personnel. This solemn ceremony will also feature the Northridge High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps conducting the presentation of colors, while Isamar Chavira will sing the national anthem. The Greeley Central High School Band is set to provide musical support, adding a heartfelt touch to the proceedings.
The ceremony will be overseen by Shawn Harmer, who serves as the master of ceremonies. Additionally, Pastor John Musil from Living Grace Baptist Church will offer the invocation and benediction, ensuring a spiritual reflection during this momentous occasion.
Following the ceremony, veterans and their families are invited to a complimentary soup luncheon hosted by the Greeley VFW Post and Auxiliary 2121. This meal will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 2514 7th Ave, providing an opportunity for community members to connect and honor their service.
The Weld County Veterans Memorial Association is committed to the upkeep of the memorial and welcomes donations to support ongoing repairs and maintenance.
