Indiana House Opens Page Program for Students in 2026 Session

URGENT UPDATE: The Indiana House of Representatives is inviting students to engage directly with state government as pages during the upcoming 2026 legislative session. State Representatives Jack Jordan and Jake Teshka announced that students aged 13 to 18 can apply for this unique opportunity to witness the legislative process firsthand.

This program, kicking off in January, runs every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., offering a comprehensive look at how laws are made and the inner workings of the government. “Interacting with other pages, House staff, and lawmakers while seeing the legislative process firsthand is a rewarding experience,” Jordan emphasized, highlighting the program’s potential to enhance civic engagement among young Hoosiers.

Participation in the House Page Program not only facilitates a deeper understanding of governance but also counts as a one-day excused absence from school, according to Indiana law. This allows students to balance their academic responsibilities while gaining invaluable insights into public service.

Students interested in this enriching experience are encouraged to contact the page program director at [email protected] for more details and application procedures. Group visits, which occur on Wednesdays, can also be arranged through this contact. Teshka remarked, “I always look forward to welcoming students from our area of the state and showing them what the legislative process looks like up close.”

While the program promises an immersive experience, students will need to manage their own transportation and lunch, ensuring they are prepared for a full day at the Statehouse in Indianapolis.

This is a timely opportunity for Hoosier youth to step into the world of politics, learn about civic duties, and perhaps ignite a lifelong passion for public service. With applications open now, students and parents should act swiftly to secure their spots in this engaging program.
