New AT&T Learning Center Opens at West Broad Street YMCA

BREAKING: The West Broad Street YMCA in Savannah, Georgia, has just launched a new connectivity center aimed at providing free access to essential digital resources. This initiative, funded by AT&T, is part of a larger effort to establish 100 learning centers nationwide by 2027.

Officials confirmed that the center, one of 25 nonprofits selected in 2025, features 15 computers and a classroom-style setting equipped with a large screen. The facility is set to open its doors Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm, allowing community members to reserve the space for research and educational purposes.

“This is an opportunity to invest in the community, providing computers and digital resources for students, seniors, and job seekers,” stated Gary Sanchez, Regional Director of External Affairs for AT&T. The urgency of this initiative is underscored by the growing need for digital access, which many community members have long awaited.

Lifelong Savannah resident Joseph Bruen expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m certainly glad to see this happen because it was needed, and I know the community is going to appreciate it.” His sentiment reflects the positive impact this center is expected to have on local residents, who will now have the opportunity to enhance their digital literacy and job search capabilities.

Tanya Milton, County Commissioner for the 5th district, echoed this sentiment, noting, “To have the ability to search the web and learn just opens you up; I think it’s amazing.” Her comments highlight the center’s role in empowering individuals within the community.

This learning center marks the first of its kind in Savannah and the eighth to open across Georgia, signaling a significant step towards bridging the digital divide. As AT&T aims to fulfill its commitment to community development, residents are encouraged to take advantage of this invaluable resource.

WHAT’S NEXT: Community members are urged to visit the center this week to explore the available resources and utilize the technology offered. With the increasing reliance on digital tools for education and employment, this center could play a pivotal role in transforming lives in Savannah.
