New Kids on the Block to Rock Halftime at Boston Legacy FC Debut

Pop icons New Kids on the Block will headline the halftime show during the inaugural home game of the Boston Legacy FC women’s soccer team at Gillette Stadium. The performance is set for March 14, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The team announced the news on Tuesday, promising a celebration that intertwines sports and music in a uniquely Boston way.

The Boston Legacy FC, an expansion team in the National Women’s Soccer League, will host its first home opener at the venue, which is also home to the New England Patriots and New England Revolution. The halftime show is described as “quintessentially NKOTB and quintessentially Boston,” featuring a medley of hits, including “Hangin’ Tough,” “Step by Step,” and “You Got It (The Right Stuff).”

Boston Legacy FC President Jennifer van Dijk expressed her excitement, noting, “Welcoming NKOTB to Gillette Stadium for our home opener is just the beginning of what will be an unforgettable inaugural season.” She emphasized that the event will celebrate the essence of Boston, from its rich sports culture to its passionate music scene. “By bringing together the Boston Legacy FC and NKOTB fan bases, we’re creating a once-in-a-lifetime moment for our city. Ticket sales for the much-anticipated game have already surpassed 20,000, indicating strong local support for both the team and the band. Donnie Wahlberg, a member of New Kids on the Block, expressed his pride in participating in this historic event. “We’ll never stop being Boston fans – we are loyal to the end,” he stated. “This halftime performance is part of a new and exciting chapter in Boston sports history, and we are so happy to be a part of it.”

The Boston Legacy FC plans to play its home games at White Stadium in Boston once scheduled renovations are complete. For this season, the team will split its 15 home games between Gillette Stadium and Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
