Oakland Police Investigate In-Custody Death, Officer on Leave

BREAKING: The Oakland Police Department is urgently investigating an in-custody death that occurred early Saturday morning. At approximately 4:15 a.m. on the 11000 block of Ettrick Street, a suspect involved in a home break-in suffered a medical emergency while being detained by police.
According to a statement from the Oakland Police Department (OPD), officers arrived at the scene and located the individual inside the residence. During the process of detaining the suspect, a brief struggle ensued, leading to a critical situation. Following the struggle, the individual became unresponsive.
