UPDATE: OnePlus has officially launched its highly anticipated flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15, in an event held in China earlier today. The global launch is expected next month, but key specifications and features are already making waves among tech enthusiasts.
The OnePlus 15 showcases a striking new design that is boxier than its predecessor, featuring a flat display and backplate. Notably, the camera island has shifted from a round to a square shape, housing three powerful cameras in the top-left corner. The centered display camera hole and ultra-thin bezels, measuring just 1.15mm, enhance its modern aesthetic.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 15 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, Qualcomm’s most robust chip to date. With 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 flash storage, this smartphone is engineered for high performance, although it lacks expandable storage.
The device boasts a stunning 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772 x 1272. It supports a refresh rate of up to 165Hz during gaming, while maintaining adaptive rates between 1Hz and 120Hz for regular use. The display’s brightness and high-frequency PWM dimming ensure an exceptional viewing experience.
One of the most compelling features is the massive 7,300mAh silicon-carbon battery, outpacing its predecessor significantly. Users can expect lightning-fast charging with 120W wired and 50W wireless capabilities, ensuring minimal downtime.
Despite its impressive specifications, the camera setup has raised eyebrows. The OnePlus 15 features a trio of 50-megapixel cameras—a main camera, an ultrawide, and a periscope telephoto lens. While these specs suggest a downgrade from the OnePlus 13, real-world performance will ultimately determine their effectiveness.
This smartphone measures 161.42 x 76.67 x 8.10-8.20mm and weighs between 211-215 grams. It is available in three colors: Absolute Black, Mist Purple, and Sand Dune, with different names anticipated for global markets.
Pricing for the OnePlus 15 starts at CNY 3,999 ($561) for the 12GB RAM model with 256GB of storage, reaching up to CNY 5,399 ($758) for the 16GB RAM variant with 1TB of storage.
As tech enthusiasts eagerly await the global launch, the OnePlus 15 is set to make a significant impact in the competitive smartphone market. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches!
