BREAKING: Ronald L. Gilbert, aged 70, has passed away on October 14, 2025, at the Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. His death has left family and friends mourning the loss of a cherished community member.

Gilbert was the beloved husband of the late Cheryl L. (Spence) Gilbert, who passed away on October 18, 2010. Born in Pottsville and raised in Schuylkill Haven, he was the son of Minerva (Yoder) Gilbert and the late Carlson “Mike” Gilbert.

A proud graduate of Blue Mountain High School in 1973, Gilbert dedicated over three decades of his life to working as a steelworker for DANA Corporation before retiring. Following his retirement, he held various positions at local businesses, including Sheetz, Mack Truck, and most recently, served as a greeter at Cabela’s.

Gilbert was known for his adventurous spirit. He enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley Davidson, and hiking. His enthusiasm for life extended to his passions for Philadelphia sports, especially the Phillies, and he was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins.

He is survived by his son Todd D. Gilbert, and daughter Jani L. (Gilbert) Milan, both of whom reside in Florida with their families. His legacy continues through his three grandchildren: Connor DuCoin, Chayson Gilbert, and McKinley Gilbert. Gilbert is also survived by two brothers, Carlson G. “Butch” Gilbert, Jr. and Richard C. Gilbert, and three sisters: Carol (Gilbert) Merbah, Sandra (Gilbert) LaScala, and Donna (Gilbert) Dabashinski.

Services will be private, held at the convenience of the family, as announced by Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc. in Hamburg. Community members are encouraged to share their condolences online at www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com.
