Roy Ayala Shatters Records in West Scranton Swim Victory

UPDATE: In a breathtaking display of athleticism, West Scranton’s Roy Ayala shattered records during a thrilling 99-76 victory over Elk Lake in a Lackawanna League boys’ swim meet on July 24, 2023. Ayala’s performance included a stunning win in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.88 seconds, breaking a long-standing school record of 54.42 seconds set by Jerry Patrick Jr. in 1982.

The evening didn’t stop there for Ayala, as he also set a new record at the West Scranton Intermediate Pool in the 100 breaststroke, finishing at 1:00.66, surpassing his previous record of 1:01.17 established earlier this season.

As the crowd erupted in cheers, Ayala’s brother, Jordan Ayala, also showcased his talent by winning two individual events: the 200 IM and the 100 free. The Ayala brothers shone together in the relays, contributing to victories in both the 200 medley and 200 free relays.
