Salvatore Maimone, 88, Passes Away; Services Set for December 29

BREAKING NEWS: Salvatore Maimone, an esteemed member of the Schenectady community, has passed away at the age of 88 on December 23, 2025, at Capstone Nursing Home. His family and friends are mourning the loss of a beloved father, grandfather, and community figure.

Born on March 26, 1937, in Meri, Messina, Sicily, Salvatore immigrated to the United States in 1971 with his wife, Antonina, after starting their family in Italy. Together, they settled in Schenectady, where Sal became a dedicated mason for Local 190 in Albany and an active member of the Sons of Italy on Hamburg Street.

Salvatore was predeceased by his wife in 2006, but he leaves behind a strong legacy through his children, Giuseppe and Orazio Maimone, and his cherished grandchildren: Nicolina, Angelo, Kamden, Ava, Sal, Anthony, and Roberto. He is also survived by his sister Anna in Italy, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, December 29, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. This will be followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m.. Salvatore will then be interred at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
