BREAKING: Sam Smith’s highly anticipated residency at the newly renovated Castro Theatre is selling out rapidly, with only a few seats left for select dates in March. The Grammy-winning artist’s run is set to begin on February 10, 2024, and has already expanded to include 20 shows through March 14.

The initial announcement by Another Planet Entertainment (APE) in late September revealed an eight-show run, which quickly transformed into a 16-show residency due to overwhelming demand. Recently added dates, March 13 and March 14, sold out within hours of going on sale. Currently, tickets remain only for shows on March 10 and March 11.

This residency marks a significant moment for the Castro Theatre, located in the heart of the LGBTQ community in San Francisco. Smith, who identifies as queer and non-binary, has expressed a commitment to respecting the neighborhood and its history. To celebrate the residency, Smith filmed a music video for their cover of Bill Withers’s classic “Ain’t No Sunshine” in and around the Castro, generating buzz online.

The Castro Theatre, officially rebranded as “The Castro,” is expected to bring substantial foot traffic to the area, which has been eagerly awaiting its reopening after renovations. Controversy surrounds the fate of local businesses, including Castro Coffee Company and Castro Nail Salon, which are facing eviction to make way for new box office space. Despite initial eviction notices, both businesses remain open amid ongoing construction.

As excitement builds for Smith’s performances, the Castro Theatre’s revival continues to spark discussions about community impact and the future of local businesses. With only limited tickets available, fans are urged to act quickly to secure their seats for this landmark event.

Stay tuned for more updates on Sam Smith’s residency and the ongoing developments at the Castro Theatre.
