Upper Darby Firefighters Deliver 40+ Thanksgiving Food Boxes

UPDATE: Upper Darby firefighters have just delivered over 40 food boxes to families in need this Thanksgiving. On Saturday, members of the Upper Darby Fire Department gathered at the Cardington fire station to ensure those less fortunate can enjoy a festive holiday meal.

This heartwarming initiative was spearheaded by retired Chief Ed Cubler, a lifelong fireman and dedicated community member. For decades, Cubler has been organizing Thanksgiving food baskets, and this year’s effort reflects the ongoing commitment of the firefighters to support local families.

Members of the IAFF Local 2493, including newly appointed Fire Chief Nick Martin, joined forces with their families to assemble the boxes filled with complete meals and extra items to enhance the Thanksgiving experience. Shop Steward Joshua Laubach expressed pride in the firefighters’ teamwork, stating that the group quickly organized and delivered the boxes to ensure no family goes without this holiday.

This event not only demonstrates the firefighters’ dedication to their community but also highlights the spirit of giving that defines the season. Families receiving the boxes can look forward to enjoying traditional holiday meals, thanks to the hard work and generosity of their local fire department.

As the holiday season approaches, such acts of kindness are vital reminders of the importance of community support. The Upper Darby Fire Department continues to set an example, showcasing how local organizations can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
