UPDATE: Authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of Luis Guerrero, 36, charged with multiple felonies, including attempted murder and assault with a semi-automatic firearm, following a shocking road rage incident on June 11, 2023. The incident occurred around 9:02 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 580 near Flynn Road, where Guerrero allegedly fired numerous shots at another driver.
This urgent case has drawn significant attention as it highlights the escalating dangers of road rage incidents. Fortunately, the driver of the Tesla, who was targeted in the shooting, escaped unharmed, but the emotional impact of such an encounter raises serious concerns about public safety on highways.
On the day of the shooting, Guerrero was arrested after the victim reported the license plate number of his 2005 GMC Yukon to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Guerrero initially faced arrest after the incident but managed to secure bail shortly thereafter, leaving his current whereabouts unknown.
In addition to attempted murder, Guerrero faces charges of shooting at an occupied motor vehicle, carrying a concealed firearm within a vehicle, and carrying a loaded firearm in public.
