Urgent: Man Arrested After Teen Reports Assault in Riverbed

UPDATE: A 35-year-old man, identified as George Valle, has been arrested following a sexual assault report made by a female teen in the bed of the Santa Clara River in Canyon Country. The incident occurred on Monday morning and is currently under investigation by the Special Victims Bureau of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

Authorities confirmed the arrest shortly after deputies responded to a call for service near Soledad Canyon Road and Camp Plenty Road. Valle was taken into custody without incident. Sgt. Joseph Mesa, who oversees the Special Victims Unit, stated that the investigation is ongoing and in its early stages, and emphasized there is no current danger to the community.

Valle has been charged under section 261(a)1 of the California Penal Code, relating to sexual assault where the victim is incapable of giving legal consent. As of this publication, Valle is being held on a $265,000 bail, and is scheduled to appear at the San Fernando Courthouse on Wednesday.
