Urgent Police Chase in San Ramon Injures Officer, Two Arrested

UPDATE: A dramatic police chase in San Ramon, California late Sunday night resulted in an injured officer and the arrest of two suspects, with authorities actively searching for two additional individuals involved. The incident unfolded when police received intel that suspects connected to a series of auto burglaries were returning to the site where a stolen vehicle had previously been abandoned.

Witnesses reported hearing sirens and a loud crash, followed by water gushing from a broken fire hydrant at Kyler Court and Kyler Lane. Local resident Adam Bieneman described the chaotic scene: “I heard the sirens, and then a big crash. I looked outside and saw this fire hydrant just blasting in the air.”

According to Lt. Leysy Pelayo of the San Ramon Police Department, the four suspects fled in a vehicle which ultimately struck four police patrol cars during the chase. Tragically, the fleeing vehicle pinned the injured officer’s leg between the door and the frame, causing significant harm.

Authorities apprehended two of the suspects, who now face multiple charges including hit-and-run related to the injured officer, possession of stolen property, and vehicle burglary. The search continues for the other two individuals involved, as police remain proactive in identifying and capturing those responsible for the incident.

This shocking event underscores the ongoing issues with vehicle thefts and burglaries in the region, as local law enforcement works tirelessly to maintain safety in the community. “We’re being proactive to ensure that we identify the people responsible and apprehend them,” Lt. Pelayo stated.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as police enhance patrols in the area. The community is shaken but united in support for the injured officer, who is currently recovering from the incident.
