URGENT UPDATE: A fox in Broomall, Pennsylvania, is facing a critical situation as it roams local neighborhoods with a piece of plastic tubing tightly stuck around its neck. This alarming sight was captured by local resident Bill Shuker at around 2 a.m. on October 1, raising immediate concerns from the community and animal rescuers.

Footage shared by Shuker shows the fox apparently foraging for food near his chicken coop. “When I zoomed in on the video, I realized there’s something that goes all the way from his head down to the bottom of his neck,” Shuker stated. The plastic obstruction poses a serious threat to the animal’s health, making it increasingly difficult for the fox to hydrate and eat, especially with winter fast approaching.

Animal rescue organization Good Boy Dog Recovery, known primarily for rescuing dogs, has stepped in to assist. President Colleen Bell explained that the fox likely got trapped in the tubing while scavenging for food or trying to enter a nearby cat shelter. “The longer he has it on, the more difficult it’s going to be for him to hydrate and eat,” Bell emphasized. “And with winter coming, there’s a real urgency to get it off.”

The rescue group became involved after concerned residents tagged them in social media posts. Bell reassured the public, stating, “We know we have the resources and expertise to help in a situation like this.” Their team is equipped with humane traps, live surveillance cameras, tracking equipment, and thermal drone technology, all aimed at locating and safely capturing the distressed animal.

Currently, the fox’s whereabouts remain unknown, but Good Boy Dog Recovery is actively working on a trapping plan in collaboration with the Pocono Wildlife and Rehab Center. Bell urged residents to continue reporting any sightings of the fox but cautioned against approaching it directly. “It’s incredibly important that people do not approach the fox,” she warned. “They certainly could – and will – bite. We don’t want anyone getting injured.”

While Shuker noted that predators are not uncommon near his coop, he reported that, so far, there have been no casualties among his chickens. “Fortunately for the chickens, at a certain time they go into the coop, and the door shuts – so they’re safe that way,” he added.

Bell reassured the community that while the public is not in danger, maintaining distance from the fox is crucial. She encouraged anyone who spots the animal to provide details such as the day, time, and direction of travel to Good Boy Dog Recovery.

As this situation develops, residents are urged to stay vigilant and report sightings immediately. The urgency to rescue this fox cannot be overstated, as its survival depends on swift action from both professionals and concerned citizens.
