Urgent: Tuesday Musical Opens 2026 Scholarship Applications Now

UPDATE: Tuesday Musical has just announced that online applications for its prestigious 2026 scholarship competition are now OPEN! Interested candidates have until February 1, 2026 to submit their applications, marking a critical opportunity for aspiring music educators and performers across Ohio.

This year’s competition is especially significant, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the scholarship program. With a total of $41,550 in funding available, 29 scholarships will be awarded, ranging from $750 to $2,000. This initiative supports college and university students who are pursuing careers in music—an important investment in the future of music education.

Eligible applicants include Ohio residents or those studying under a music teacher at an Ohio institution, focusing on majors in music performance and music education. Categories for the scholarships include brass, classical guitar, organ, piano, percussion, strings, voice, and woodwinds. Notably, the percussion category has been expanded to allow a wider repertoire beyond just marimba and steel pan.

The adjudicated competition, where applicants will receive valuable feedback, is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the University of Akron. Organists will showcase their talents at the historic Westminster Presbyterian Church in Akron. This year, the second-place organ scholarship, introduced last year, has been increased to an impressive $1,500.

Winners of the first and second places will have the exciting opportunity to compete in the final round during the winners concert on Sunday, May 3, 2026. This event will feature two additional scholarships and a people’s-choice award, making it a must-attend for music enthusiasts.
