This week’s nominees showcase remarkable talent with standout performances from October 19-25. The poll features five exceptional players, including volleyball stars, field hockey champions, and a top runner, all vying for your votes.
Meet your nominees:
Mara Boullion, Ann Arbor Pioneer, has made a significant impact in her freshman year. As the goalkeeper, she played a crucial role in leading her team to capture their first-ever MHSAA field hockey state title. Boullion recorded four saves in each of the quarterfinal and semifinal victories, culminating in a stellar performance with 10 saves during the championship match, securing a 2-0 victory against the Dreadnaughts.
Sarah Giroux, from Flat Rock, has powered her volleyball team to an impressive 7-1 record last week. She was instrumental in clinching the first Huron League title for Flat Rock, particularly with a decisive win against Monroe St. Mary’s Catholic Central on October 22. Giroux racked up 97 kills, 40 digs, 13 aces, and five blocks across eight matches.
Annie Hrabovsky, representing Romeo, showcased her speed and endurance by winning the girls 5K with a time of 17:26.3. Her performance contributed to the Bulldogs securing both the individual and team regional titles on October 21.
Kylie Marcinkowski of Dexter proved her worth as a vital player, leading her team to the championship game against Ann Arbor Pioneer. She tallied three goals and five shots on goal throughout the week, cementing her role in the team’s journey through the playoffs.
Finally, Bryn Mullins from Port Huron has been a powerhouse in volleyball, guiding her team to an undefeated 10-0 season in league play and clinching the Macomb Athletic Conference Blue Division title after defeating Chippewa Valley 3-0 on October 22. She finished her match with one ace, one kill, and 15 digs.
