William J. Clark, Renowned Builder and Philanthropist, Dies at 78

Born on January 18, 1947, in Lowell, MA, Clark was celebrated not only for his impressive business acumen but also for his unwavering commitment to his family and community. He married the love of his life, Deborah J. Meisner, on October 4, 1969, and their bond remained strong for over 56 years. Clark was a devoted husband, father, and friend, often described as a guiding light in both his personal and professional circles.

Clark’s career began with the founding of Clark Bros. Masonry in 1969, which grew to become one of New England’s premier masonry companies. His passion for construction led him to establish multiple successful ventures, including Merganser Corporation and Turnstone Corporation, which he co-founded with his daughter, Stacy. His contributions to the construction field earned him the first-ever New Hampshire Construction Industry Ethics Award in 1997.

Beyond his business success, Clark was deeply committed to community service. He served on various boards, including the Board of Directors for the Association of General Contractors, NH, and the Nashua Boys Club. His legacy includes significant contributions to affordable housing projects in the 1980s, showcasing his desire to give back to the community.

Clark was also an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, known for his love of curling and outdoor activities, including ice fishing and snowmobiling. His family remembers him fondly for his infectious joy during family gatherings, particularly during the holidays, where he often hosted large celebrations.

Visitation services are set for December 11, 2025, from 1 PM to 3 PM and 5 PM to 8 PM at Mayhew Funeral Home in Meredith, NH. A Funeral Mass will follow on December 12 at 11 AM at St. Charles Church in Meredith. Clark will receive a private ceremony at the NH Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Milford Rotary Club & Foundation or Share Outreach in Milford, NH, to honor Clark’s spirit of giving.
