Nevada Donor Network Achieves Record Organ Donations in 2025

The Nevada Donor Network (NDN) has reported a record-breaking year for organ, eye, and tissue donations in 2025, marking a significant achievement in the face of national challenges. This year, the organization honored the contributions of 262 organ donors, 1,090 tissue donors, and 3,957 cornea donors, making a profound difference in the lives of patients across Nevada and beyond.

NDN’s efforts resulted in the successful transplantation of 795 organs, the provision of over 300,000 tissue grafts, and the restoration of sight for more than 3,000 individuals. This success has earned NDN recognition as a Tier 1A Organ Procurement Organization (OPO), the highest designation awarded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).

Commitment and Collaboration Drive Success

Joseph Ferreira, President & CEO of the Nevada Donor Network, emphasized the significance of these achievements, stating, “Achieving Tier 1A status during a year of national decline underscores what’s possible when commitment, collaboration, and compassion come together.” Each statistic represents a human life transformed through the generous act of donation, highlighting the essential role that donors play in saving lives.

The dedication of NDN’s staff has been crucial, ensuring that every opportunity for donation is treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Ferreira acknowledged the vital partnerships with hospitals throughout Nevada, where clinical teams collaborate closely with NDN to facilitate life-saving procedures.

“None of this would be possible without our hospital and community partners across the state and the countless supporters who believe in the power of donation,” Ferreira added. This collective effort illustrates that even during difficult times, hope can flourish, and lives can be saved.

Focus on the Future

As NDN looks to the future, the organization remains committed to enhancing excellence in donation practices, strengthening partnerships, and honoring the contributions of donor heroes and their families. Established in 1987, NDN is the only Nevada-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organ procurement organization. It serves millions of residents in Nevada and thousands of Americans nationwide.

Currently, over 100,000 Americans, including nearly 700 Nevadans, are awaiting life-saving organ transplants. A single organ donor has the potential to save up to eight lives through organ donation, heal up to 75 lives through tissue donation, and restore sight to two individuals through cornea donation.

The Nevada Donor Network also plays a crucial role in community education and outreach, encouraging residents to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors. It is a member of Donate Life Nevada, an affiliate of Donate Life America, which promotes awareness about the importance of organ donation.
