A routine traffic stop on Route 9 in New Castle County, Delaware, resulted in the arrest of four individuals after police discovered a handgun and a significant amount of marijuana in their vehicle. The incident occurred around 21:30 on January 27, 2026, when detectives from the Active Crime Trends Team pulled over a blue Tesla Model Y for an alleged traffic violation near the intersection of Memorial Drive and Route 13.
The driver, identified as Michael Rivera, 21, of Wilmington, did not have a valid driver’s license. During the stop, officers observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, which led them to establish probable cause for a search. Accompanying Rivera were three other occupants: Anyea Hynson, 23, also from Wilmington; Kevin Rivera, 18, from Wilmington; and Tylere Brown-Hall, 19, from New Castle.
Following the search, police reported the recovery of a 9mm handgun and more than 489 grams of prepackaged marijuana hidden within the vehicle, alongside additional drug paraphernalia. Further investigation revealed that Brown-Hall was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Arrests and Charges Filed
All four individuals were taken into custody and transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters for processing. Hynson faces serious charges, including felony counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy, and a misdemeanor charge related to drug paraphernalia. Following her arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 11, she was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution after failing to post $74,500 cash bail.
Michael Rivera was charged with multiple felonies, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and conspiracy, among others. He was also arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is currently held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $84,602 cash bail.
Brown-Hall was charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited. He, too, was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and is being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after he could not post $3,000 cash bail. Kevin Rivera faces charges for carrying a concealed deadly weapon and was committed to the same correctional institution after his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 1 and failing to post $10,000 cash bail.
All charges mentioned are allegations, and every suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
