Harvey Guillén Kicks Off Holiday Shopping for Museum Store Sunday

Actor Harvey Guillén, recognized for his role as “Guillermo de la Cruz” on the acclaimed FX series “What We Do in the Shadows,” has begun his holiday shopping in support of local museums. Guillén visited The Library Store at the historic Los Angeles Central Library on November 28, 2025, in anticipation of Museum Store Sunday, scheduled for November 30. This annual event features over 2,300 museum stores globally, offering shoppers unique gifts while supporting cultural institutions.

During his visit, Guillén expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative. “As an artist myself, it feels good to know our purchases support local creators while directly funding each museum’s exhibitions and community programs,” he stated. He highlighted the importance of museums in experiencing local art and culture, especially when traveling with family.

Supporting Local Artisans and Cultural Institutions

This year’s Museum Store Sunday encourages shoppers to engage in purpose-driven shopping, with many stores featuring exclusive merchandise from local artisans. Guillén found an array of gifts, including the Trejo’s Hot Sauce Variety Pack and a Reading Brings Us Together T-Shirt, both crafted by local makers.

Launched by the Museum Store Association in 2017, Museum Store Sunday takes place annually on the Sunday following Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. It invites people to explore museum shops that often host special events and discounts. Items for sale vary widely, including books, home decor, jewelry, and gourmet food products.

Christine Romero, Director of Retail Services at The Library Store, noted the collaboration with local artists to create exclusive products. For instance, a limited-edition library card featuring artwork by LA artist Gajin Fujita is available alongside a 100% silk scarf designed to reflect his painting, “Guardian Angel.” Romero emphasized that shoppers appreciate unique items that connect them to their favorite places and support local creators.

Exclusive Promotions for Museum Store Sunday

On November 30, shoppers can take advantage of various promotions at participating museum stores. At The Library Store, customers will receive a 15% discount on purchases and a free tote bag with a purchase of $100 (while supplies last). Other participating locations include:

  • Mint Museum Store in Charlotte, offering a 30% discount and a pop-up event with La Bonbonniere Bakery.
