Jerry Lee Bailey, a cherished member of the Kitts Hill community, passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 67. Surrounded by his loving family, he departed this life after a battle with illness. Known for his warm personality and strong faith, Bailey’s impact on those around him will be deeply felt.
Born on October 16, 1958, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, Jerry was the youngest of 16 children born to Hazel Layne Bailey and Ernest Bailey. He is preceded in death by several siblings, as well as his grandson, Brenden Lee Bailey; step-grandson, Nicholas Chaise Kuehne; and stepson, Adam Chaise Kuehne. His legacy continues through his wife, Karen McDonie Bailey, whom he married on August 17, 2006, and his children, including his son, Jeremy Bailey, and stepsons, Johnathon Kuehne and Stephen Kuehne.
Jerry graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1978. He dedicated his professional life to the HVAC industry, retiring from Cambpell Heating & Air in 2020 due to health issues. His love for fishing and visiting flea markets showcased his easygoing nature, which endeared him to many friends throughout his life.
A devoted member of the Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Jerry embraced his faith, which played a significant role in his life. He often spoke about his relationship with Jesus Christ, which provided him with solace and strength.
His funeral services will be held at the Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday. Family visitation is scheduled from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a gathering for friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will commence at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastors Stephen Kuehne and Jeremy Shamblin. Jerry will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to either the Storms Creek Missionary Baptist Church or the Community Hospice Care Center located in Ashland, Kentucky. Funeral arrangements are being managed by Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton, with further details available on their website.
