Durango Girls Lacrosse Bounces Back with Huge 13-2 Senior Night Win

Durango Girls Lacrosse Crushes Santa Fe Prep 13-2 on Senior Night

After suffering their toughest loss of the season last week, the Durango High School girls lacrosse team roared back with a commanding 13-2 victory over Santa Fe Prep on senior night, affirming their resilience and dominance as the spring season heats up.

The Demons jumped on the Blue Griffins early and never looked back, displaying a powerful offense and a suffocating defense that disrupted Santa Fe’s rhythm from the opening whistle. The win improved Durango’s overall record to 8-3, while Santa Fe dropped to 0-2 this season.

Early Firepower and Aggressive Defense Seal the Win

Durango wasted no time, scoring three goals within the first four minutes. Junior Indie Eaton, who led the team with four goals and two assists, set the tone immediately, driving in from the left side for the opening tally. Freshman Janelle Dingler quickly followed with two goals and added three assists, demonstrating poise beyond her years.

The Demons’ defense was relentless, with sophomore Keelyn Reynolds and junior goaltender Jody Holden playing key roles. Reynolds caused a suspected school record 10 turnovers with her aggressive stick checks and sharp anticipation, while Holden recorded six critical saves, denying Santa Fe any chance to gain momentum.

“I think I’m undefeated on senior nights and so is the team, so that’s pretty good,” said Durango head coach Eric Elliot, highlighting the team’s exceptional performance under pressure.

Seniors Shine in Senior Night Celebrations

The senior players, including Taylor Babcock who netted three goals and an assist, along with Scarlett Ramsey scoring her second goal of the season, received deserved recognition in a heartfelt ceremony after the game. Coach Elliot praised their leadership, noting their positive impact on integrating 10 new players into the lineup this season.

“Their leadership is amazing. It’s getting harder to pick out who hasn’t played before, and it’s in big part thanks to the senior class,” Elliot said.

Next Up: Home Clash Against Telluride

Following this sweeping victory, Durango is set to host Telluride at home on Wednesday at 4 p.m., aiming to continue their winning streak and build momentum heading deeper into the season.

For Durango and their supporters, Friday’s win wasn’t just a response to a previous setback—it was a statement. With a balanced attack, stifling defense, and inspirational senior leadership, the Demons are positioning themselves as a serious contender in the region. Lacrosse fans across Colorado and the wider United States should take note as Durango’s season unfolds.
