BREAKING NEWS: Maureen Ann O’Malley, cherished resident of Lowell, MA, has passed away at the age of 84 on November 22, 2025. She died peacefully at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family, after a prolonged period of declining health.
Born on April 29, 1941, Maureen was a lifelong Lowellian, the daughter of the late Harold and Christine (Duffy) Heafy. As a proud graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro, Class of 1959, she dedicated more than 15 years of her career as a secretary at Greater Lowell Vocational High School, where her warm spirit touched countless lives.
Maureen shared a beautiful 53-year marriage with her beloved husband, the late Robert ‘Bob’ O’Malley, who predeceased her in April 2018. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with love and laughter, where family always took center stage.
Her family is left to cherish her memory, including her two children, Scott O’Malley of Lowell and Kellie Amari of Townsend, MA, along with their spouses and her adored grandchildren: Kaitlyn O’Malley, Michael Amari, and Shawn Amari. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Brody and Levi Palmer, who brought her immense joy.
Maureen will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She thrived on the happiness of those around her, especially during festive occasions like St. Patrick’s Day and the Fourth of July, which she celebrated with infectious enthusiasm.
Funeral services for Maureen O’Malley will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, beginning at 11 AM at St. Rita’s Church, located at 58 Mammoth Rd, Lowell, MA 01854.
