St. Adalbert’s Church Closes After 136 Years in Heartfelt Farewell

URGENT UPDATE: The historic St. Adalbert’s Church in Glen Lyon held its final Mass on Sunday, October 15, 2023, marking the end of a cherished 136-year legacy. Led by Bishop Joseph C. Bambera, the emotional ceremony saw parishioners gather for one last time to pay tribute to their community.

As tears flowed, the congregation filled the pews, reflecting on the church’s deep roots since its establishment in 1889. The poignant service culminated with Joseph Molski, the church’s oldest parishioner at 91 years old, locking the doors for the final time, a symbolic act of closure that resonated deeply with attendees.

In a heartfelt moment, parishioners approached the altar, touching it for the last time as they bid farewell to their beloved sanctuary. Many expressed a mix of sadness and gratitude, remembering the countless celebrations and community gatherings held within the church’s walls.
