UPDATE: The highly anticipated 19th annual Coaches Choice USA Staten Island vs. New Jersey Challenge is set to ignite excitement this Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Moore Catholic in Graniteville, New York. This year’s event introduces an exciting twist as the second game will spotlight the talents of two remarkable head coaches who are former Jaques Award winners. The match-up pits Staten Island Academy against Bound Brook, where Sandy Litkenhaus, a Jaques winner from the 1986-87 season, makes her debut as head coach for SIA. Meanwhile, Jen Derenjanik, a distinguished three-time Jaques winner, takes the helm for Bound Brook in her 12th season.
“This event showcases the rich talent and dedication within our basketball community,” said event organizer and former Islander James Martinos. “We’re thrilled to highlight these incredible coaches and their teams.”
The schedule kicks off with a showdown between Tottenville and Spotswood at 11:00 a.m., followed by the high-stakes game between SIA and Bound Brook at 12:30 p.m.. The action continues with Notre Dame Academy taking on Mount St. Mary at 2:05 p.m., St. Joseph by-the-Sea facing off against East Brunswick at 3:45 p.m., and concluding with Moore Catholic versus Snyder at 5:20 p.m.
